TAG Heuer Monaco Automatic Modern Version

This replica TAG Heuer Monaco Automatic watch is a modern version of a classic 1960’s piece. I was just… infatuated.  When I had a nice bonus, I hit the store the very next day and ordered one. The best way to explain that Monaco would be this – it would look perfectly at home in the film Gattaca.

It looks both retro and modern at the same time. The case and the sapphire crystal were heavily redesigned for the new piece and all the curves and brushed metal look very modern. But the square shape and dial are very retro and quite dressy. Something about retro designs, even “sporty” ones, looks dressy somehow.

The 2015 TAG Heuer Calibre 11 Chronograph is very close to the original model from 1969, with only a few slight updates. What is changed, is the the three-part steel case (since 1998), which is slightly more square on the 2015 version, and closed with 4 screws; the shape of the two push-pieces at 2 and 4 o’clock, the lugs a little larger, its calfskin strap perforated, the sapphire crystal (since 2009) and an open case-back which reveals the gears of the calibre are all features of the updated version.
